About Me

I am Writing Center Director and Assistant Professor in the Department of English, Comparative Literature, and Linguistics at California State University, Fullerton where I teach classes in English studies for students transitioning into college writing, the English major, and careers in teaching English at the high school and community college level. My teaching, mentoring, and research interests include writing pedagogies, multilingual writers, writing for the public sphere, English Studies (as discipline and engaged praxis), and critical nonprofit studies (with an emphasis on education).

Outside of my professional career I love reading for pleasure, quilting, embroidery, fantasy basketball, the Los Angeles Lakers, hiking, running, kayaking, snorkeling, camping, the Los Angeles Lakers, and humorous repetition. I recently went on my first scuba dive and look forward to completing my certification soon. I took this picture of Santa Cruz Island at sunrise from my train to work.
